Why is there this double standard in baseball, and in society in general?

It would be perfectly acceptable for me to say "The Red Sox Japanese pitcher Daisuke Matsusaka", but I’d be labeled a racist if I referred to "The Yankees black pitcher CC Sabbathia"? Why the double standard? It’s not an insult in either case.
Thanks guys, for the answers so far. All your answers are interesting. No thumbs down to anyone from me.

Just a little baseball survey if you're bored (:?

hey guys, i haven’t been on here as much as i used to be. now i’m just bored waiting for the yankees/twins game to come on later, so i decided i’d ask something in case you guys needed to pass some time too…
i missed the baseball section(:

1. well first, i have to ask. how do you think the game will turn out, if you’re going to watch it? score predictions?
2. would you rather watch a game with dominant pitching or a slugfest?
3. what team do you think has the best-looking uniforms? the worst?
4. apart from your favorite, what team are you the most familiar with/do you follow the most?
5. do you have a favorite player on your least favorite team?
6. if you HAD to switch out one of the players in your starting lineup with someone from a different team, who would you choose to get rid of and who would you replace them with?
7. who have you been voting for for the all-star game? (just a few)

well i wanted to get 10 questions, but i can’t think of any more right now :P
thanks for answering!

President Obama and the Yankees

The President hosts the 2009 World Series Champion New York Yankees at the White House. April 26, 2010.

MLB Baseball playoff schedule question?

Just a basic "opinion" question I guess…If the Indians have the best record in the AL, or at least a better record than LA, and host the Wild Card Yankees on either Wedensday or Thursday, what are the chances it would be a day game vs. night game. I have tickets to the Tribe’s first "home" game, and I really want it to be at night b/c of work. I know the Yanks are usually picked for prime time for ratings. What are your opinions? Pretty much the other case scenerio, if we don’t have home field advantage, is that the game (game 3 by this point) would probably be on Sunday and that’s perfect. Seeing as how the Tribe will either play Boston or NY, these are the only 2 scenarios I can come up with. Let me know what you think!

Is baseball even fun to watch anymore?

With all the steroids and the fact everyone is out for money, is it even fun to watch anymore? more cases than not, its always the same teams. Yankees, Red Sox, and all the other teams who actually spend money to get good players. The Richest MLB owner is not the yankees, its the royal’s, and we know how much they suck. they are doing ok, but still bad. With all the steroids and money being involved, is it fun anymore? I say no

The New York Yankees won the world series last night, and?

several news reports said several unnamed Yankees where not going to be a Yankee in 2010. Understand money is a player in baseball, who pays me more,I’ll go there in most cases.
For now your World champion,a baseball players dream, why brake up a winning combination?

In Your Opinion, Which Major League Baseball Fans Take The Most Abuse And Why?

It’s pretty clear that certain groups of fans are verbally abused by the general populus on a regular basis. We see examples of it in Yahoo Answer every single day. Who are these unfortunate people (fans if you will) and why do you think this is the case? I’m looking for honest, thoughtful answers. Any use of the word "suck" or similar comments to describe others will not be considered as an answer.
Susan K, you know me well! lol Of course I’m usually defending myself and my Yankees! By the way, nice blog!

On the mlb website, why are baseball teams blackout from local viewing?

As a new york city resident, I am blacked out from watching the Yankees and Mets. Why and will this always be the case in the future?

How much are these autographs worth?

I went to a AAA Yankees game and I have a Rawlings Little League baseball signed by:

Shelley Duncan(was on the Yankees for a while)
Chad Moeller(was on the Yankees for a while)
Ian Kennedy(top Yankees prospect)
Jason Brown
Nick Green

Also, how do I display them so they don’t fade or anything without using a baseball case?

What decides what teams play eachother in postseason baseball?

Im assuming their record, and the wildcard? But in the case of the AL Boston and the Yankees wont play eachother (this is assuming they get there) but how do they decide who will play the Angels and who will play the Indians?

Would you like to join me in adding humor to the baseball section?

Someone asked a question about Bonds being a perfect fit for the Yankees. Then I got to thinking about what if Bonds and Schilling were on the same team. Then I thought about what if there was a team where every person hated their other teammates.

Here’s the deal: Pick a player for every position, a DH, and one or two relief pitchers, and a starting pitcher, that you think would absolutely clash with most teams. In most cases, it’s just best to go with a player that’s hated by most people because of their perssonality. You know, a player who likes all the attention on them, and can just really be a butt.

Lost? Okay, here are some of the players I chose:

C: AJ Pierzynski
1B:
2B:
3B:
SS:
OF: Barry Bonds
OF:
OF:
DH:
SP: Curt Schilling
RP: Kyle Farnsworth

Proud to be Mexican-
I was WAITING for someone to say Alex Rodriguez….especially a Yankee fan. Automatic thumbs up from me
Definately Julio Lugo….how could I forget JD Drew?!
What’s with all the thumbs down?!
