I need some help with finding the right speaker/amp system for me…?
Basically i am a teenage boy who is into making music or producing as some people may know it. At the moment i am trying to build up a studio, so far i have a midi keyboard and midi electric drum kit. I also have an alesis mixer and a very bad guitar amp i am using for my drum kit. I am using a computer with cubase software and it is all working perfectly. Now the time has come for me to upgrade my guitar amp speaker set up to a decent set up. For my set up i would like a fairly cheap kit including passive speakers and an amp or even active speakers but i’d also like the quality that a producer needs to make music. I have had my eye on the jbl control series but hav’nt really researched them yet. My budget for this is around £150 but this is flexible, i know this is alot to ask and it is a very small budget but as i said i am a teenage boy
any answers will be very gratefully accepted and i thankyou just for reading all of this in the first place ![]()

Busker Cajon Kit 2010.mov
Captain Bubble / Marcus de Mowbray. UK (Inventor/Craftsman/Musician) Prototype of my Busker Cajon Kit. A highly compact full drum kit plus a cajon which doubles as a stool, and into which the entire kit and its rug all fit for very easy transport. The cajon has four resonant panels for a wide range of tones, the “Busker” kit has a snare drum, three toms, a bass drum (which is built into the cajon and has a rod linkage connected to the foot pedal), a ride cymbal, cymbal bell, ten inch and six inch splash cymbals and ten inch hi-hats. The hi-hats are mounted in the centre, the other 4 cymbals are in stacked pairs on either side. This video briefly demonstrates the prototype, then there are several short clips of it in use playing along to CDs of different musical styles, giving an idea of how versatile this incredibly compact drum and percussion set up is. Furthermore the “Busker” range of drums has been painstakingly designed to be considerably quieter than other drum kits, making them suitable for all acoustic sessions. The sound quality is poor, but gives some idea of how it sounds.
Roland TD4 Drum Kit Demo – Nevada Music UK
www.nevadamusic.co.uk Check out some of the sounds and features of the Roland new TD4k electronic drum kit. The Roland TD4K V-Drum Kit takes over where the TD-3 left off except that the TD-4 has a host of new features and four times the wave memory of its predecessor … There’s also a new re-enforced drum stand that’s still just as lightweight and compact but now a whole lot stronger, aside from the new stand Roland have supplemented the TD-4 with a centre mounted sound module that contains new sounds and sensors within the pads that have an even greater degree of touch sensitivity … The snare pad has a patented mesh head for improved feel and resonance, whilst the toms and cymbals are velocity sensitive with the cymbals also having a “choke” capability. The TD4K is also expandable to include an optional pad or if preferred the user can replace the ride cymbal to a CY-12R/C 3-way trigger V-Cymbal, the kit is also compatible with the optional VH-11 V-Hi-Hat which can be mounted on a conventional hi-hat stand. Pre-programmed kit patches can be customised by the ability to tune and dampen each drum to the user’s own preference whilst ambient effects such as reverb can also be controlled to suit the occasion. To improve your playing skills Roland have also included their acclaimed Coach Mode which tests and trains drumming skills such as timing, accuracy and stamina. The Coach programme offers a diverse range of drumming excercises that can run for 5, 10 or 15 minutes and …
How Can I Maximize My Reading Time?
I am a fairly voracious reader, but there are several problems:
1. I have a slight case of add, so I read more slowly than I should otherwise because I am easily distracted by other thoughts.
2. I have a wide variety of interests, so I am generally reading several books on different subjects at the same time. My primary interests are in politics, history, science, sociology, Buddhism, music, and baseball.
3. My book reading time is fairly limited, say 8-10 hours a week, which tends to be about the time it takes me to read a scholarly 350-400 page work.
Looking over my "to-read" shelves, I currently have, by my estimates, 400 hours of reading material.
I have 180 books on my Amazon wishlist vying for my attention.
How do I decide what’s worth my time, particularly when it comes to books with a political agenda? Amazon reviews are not very helpful here, because they seem to always be ridiculously laudatory. Does anyone know of any resources for helping someone in my situation read faster

Inspired Fragments for Drum Set
This is a piece I wrote for my senior percussion recital. I wanted to write something for my recital, and the last available instrument to write for was drum set. I took clips (or fragments) of songs that have inspired me to play drum set from my younger years through today and pieced them together. Sometimes the fragment may only be a 1 bar drum fill, but for the most part, a recognizable excerpt is given. There are a total of 18 fragments representing 17 different artists. In order of appearance: Weezer — Undone (The Sweater Song) The Dave Brubeck Quartet — Take 5 Pie Bald — King OF The Road Sufjan Stevens — Come On! Feel The Illinoise! Modest Mouse — Dramamine Arcade Fire — Neighborhood #3 (Power Out) Sigur Ros — Olsen Olsen The Format — The First Single Minus the Bear — Thanks For The Killer Game Of Crisco Twister The Killers — When You Were Young Glen Miller — In The Mood Phoenix — Everything Is Everything Motion City Soundtrack — Time Turned Fragile My Chemical Romance — I’m Not Okay (I Promise) Desaparecidos — Man and Wife, The Latter (Damaged Goods) Dashboard Confessionals — Hands Down The National — Mr. November Dashboard Confessionals — Ender Will Save Us All Lastly, I had to recreate each song so that I could perform the drum set parts live. The accompanying video was created by Jeremi Mattern and myself. Special thanks to: Cary Daniels, Ricky Hall and Kyle Smith.
Animusic 2 – Pipe Dream 2
Visit www.animusic.com if you’re interested in watching this amazing Animusic video, along with seven, fourteen, or more other Animusic videos, with much better picture and sound quality on DVD. Animusic is a computer animation company specializing in the visualization of MIDI-based music. This is a computer generated video showing metal balls flying out of pipes, making music by striking strange musical instruments, and flying back into the pipes. The instruments resemble a harpsichord, a banjo, bongo drums, a drum set, a vibraphone, tubular bells, and a marimba. At the drum set there’s a spinning thing with a splash cymbal, a hi-hat, a pair of wood blocks, and a cowbell. This is the sequel of “Animusic – Pipe Dream”.

What is a decent, cheap drum SET?
ok I am constantly finding myself "air drumming" to songs that I listen to. I listen to alternative rock, almost rock-emo. I dont know how to explain it. Bands like armor for sleep, all time low, hawthorne heights, that sort of thing. I really think that I have what it takes and I think I am ready for a drumset. I am looking for a full set for 0.00 or less. I just want it to drum to myself, no lessons or anything. Does anyone have any suggestions.
Oh, and are there certain types of drum sets for certain types of music? Please help im a total nubpatty to this stuff. I would do guitar but this damn birth defected-hand is preventing me…sad face.
