Just some improvised drumming. The audio is recorded with one Shure SM57 microphone which is connected directly to the video camera and facing towards the drum set. I had been playing drums approximately 4 years and 3 months when I recorded this video and I was 18 years old. Some of my favourite drummers and inspirations: Chris Dave, Dave Abbruzzese, Dave Grohl, Derek Roddy, Gene Hoglan, George Kollias, John Longstreth, Marco Minnemann, Neil Peart, Nicholas Barker, Pete Sandoval, Richard Christy, Sean Reinert and Steve Gadd.

This is my interpretation of Djembe playing. It is not exactly traditional, but it is how I use the Djembe to exemplify the drum set.

This is Jay jamming on the set. Of all the instruments that he is learning, he focuses least on drum set. Now he spent some extra time on set on this summer (2007) and has improved. Though he has had a set for a while, he has never focused on it, never practiced much, or never applied himself until this summer (2007). This video should be taken and viewed in the context of his overall percussion/musical skills and not as young kid that exclusively focuses on playing the drum set. Jay is 11 years old in this video.
